It’s unclear as to why these tips only apply to brunettes, or why the US Navy was providing its seamen with dating tips in the first place, but man, this video is great. The sarcastic cold-open is hilarious, and who could possibly resist those clothes? Sure, some of the etiquette is hopelessly dated, even veering on sexist, but the video is a product of its time and I happen to be endlessly fascinated by these snapshots of bygone eras. So, gentlemen, should you find yourselves courting a brunette, consider taking some cues from these American sailors.
